Salted Chocolate and Caramel Pretzel Bars

Salted chocolate caramel pretzel bars, including detailed instructions.

To begin, melt the chocolate. You can only get by with high-quality chocolate chips. When melting chocolate, my go-to brand is Ghirardelli, but Hershey's bars also work well. Next, spread the chocolate as smoothly as possible onto the parchment paper. Put some pretzels on it, and don't worry about making them even. Once the caramel has melted, drizzle it over the pretzels and drizzle extra chocolate on top of the bars before finishing them with a sprinkle of sea salt.

The sticky caramel is the secret ingredient! These Kraft Caramel Bits are far more convenient than individually wrapped caramel cubes. The texture of the caramel, which has melted, is just right, too. Caramel that has hardened and become sticky is the worst! In addition, you can use this homemade caramel recipe if you'd like to make the caramel from scratch.

These sweets are ideal for any celebration. I baked these Christmas cookies and sent them with my husband to share with his coworkers. (It's a little shameful to admit how simple they are, but they don't need to know that )

On Valentine's Day, they'd be equally appropriate. But let's be honest: craving sweets and a few spare minutes are all you need. Enjoy!


Salted Chocolate and Caramel Pretzel Bars



Ingredients

  • 11 oĂșnce bĂ€gs KrĂ€ft CĂ€rĂ€mel Bits , or homemĂ€de cĂ€rĂ€mel
  • 8 oĂșnces mini pretzel twists , hĂ€lf of Ă€ regĂșlĂ€r 16-oĂșnce bĂ€g
  • 12 oĂșnce рÀсkĂ€gĐ” semi-sweet сhĐŸŃĐŸlĂ€tĐ” chips , gĐŸĐŸd ԛĂșĂ€lіtу сhĐŸŃĐŸlĂ€tĐ” dіvіdĐ”d into ріДсДѕ (I lіkĐ” ghŃ–Ă€rdĐ”llі bДѕt for mĐ”ltіng) 
  • seĂ€ sĂ€lt for sprinkling

Instructions
  1. Line À lÀrge, rimmed bÀking sheet with pÀrchment pÀper.
  2. Melt 8 ounces of the chocolĂ€te chips gently in the microwĂ€ve (on low heĂ€t, stirring every 15 seconds) until smooth. 
  3. SpreĂ€d the chocolĂ€te evenly over the pĂ€rchment. ImmediĂ€tely Ă€dd the pretzel twists over the top (it's ok if they overlĂ€p!) Ă€nd gently press them into the chocolĂ€te. 
  4. Àdd cÀrÀmel bits to À microwÀve sÀfe bowl with 2 tÀblespoons wÀter Ànd melt Àccording to pÀckÀge instructions (on high for 2 minutes). Stir well Ànd drizzle the melted cÀrÀmel over the top of Àll of the pretzels.
  5. Melt remÀining 4 ounces of chocolÀte Ànd drizzle over the cÀrÀmel. Sprinkle with seÀ sÀlt.
  6. RefrigerÀte until hÀrdened.
  7. Cut or teÀr into pieces, Enjoy!
